Not too shabby, eh? Certainly not for the titular opening track on an album that wasn’t really even on my radar until recently. Frankie Rose made headway into the alternative music scene as a member of a few notable bands: Crystal Stilts, Dum Dum Girls, and Vivian Girls. However, this is her second solo album since 2010, and she’s exploring new depths with her sound, infusing her previous musical ethos with a bigger synth-pop vibe. In fact, just about everything in this album feels bigger. She’s done a fantastic job of building richer sound, drawing inspiration from artists like M83 in terms of both lyrical content and creating an expansive, ethereal soundscape. It’s perfect to relax to (I’ve just been lounging around with this record on since early this morning).

In short, have yourself a listen. If you fancy it, consider picking up the full album, available as of today through Slumberland Records.
